The PhD project will be part of a project that aims to obtain fundamental insights into the molecular basis of protein interactions with metal ions, ligands and other proteins, ultimately related to the chemical principles of regulation of biological processes and drug action. It will involve a combination of state-of-the-art SPR-biosensor technology for time-resolved interaction analysis and basic biochemical methods, such as enzyme kinetic analysis. This will be complemented by other biophysical techniques as well as structural and computational methods. A primary aim is to contribute to the discovery of drugs, using a combination of rational structure-based drug discovery and fragment-based drug discovery. The current focus of the group is identification and characterization of inhibitors targeting enzymes expressed by hepatitis C virus and HIV. The project will give a broad scientific training and will provide the opportunity for national and international collaborations in academia and industry.

Qualifications: We are looking for a talented and highly motivated student with excellent skills in English. Swedish is an added value but not a prerequisite.
